Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck Breaks Records at Nürburgring

Ford has once again proven that its electric future is as thrilling as it is innovative. Hot off its win at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has now conquered Germany’s Nürburgring, one of the toughest and most iconic race tracks in the world.

The all-electric SuperTruck completed a lap in just 6:43.482, earning the fifth-fastest time ever recorded by a prototype vehicle. This puts it ahead of Ford’s own Transit SuperVan 4.2, which also impressed with a lap time of 6:48.393. While these are one-off race builds, they showcase Ford’s engineering excellence and highlight the potential for future production EVs.

Built with three STARD UHP 6-Phase Motors and ultra-high-performance Li-Polymer NMC cells, the SuperTruck produces an astonishing 1,600 horsepower. Despite relying on a compact 50 kWh battery pack, its advanced aerodynamics generate 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph, helping it maintain grip and stability through the demanding corners of the “Green Hell.”

Beyond Nürburgring, the SuperTruck also impressed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, completing the hill climb in just 43.23 seconds with racing legend Romain Dumas behind the wheel. These achievements aren’t just about bragging rights—they’re about testing the limits of EV technology, with lessons learned being applied to improve Ford’s next generation of production vehicles.
