Canada is about to become an important part of the Ford Super Duty story. According to a recent report from Ford Authority (https://fordauthority.com/2026/07/canadian-ford-super-duty-production-launches-this-quarter/), full-scale Super Duty production at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario is expected to officially begin during the third quarter of 2026.
The milestone follows a major transformation of the Oakville facility. Ford originally planned to retool the plant for a pair of new three-row electric SUVs, but subsequently changed course and announced that Oakville would become a third production location for the hugely popular Super Duty. The Ontario facility will join Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant and Ohio Assembly Plant in building the heavy-duty pickup.
The transition is already well underway. Six pre-production Super Duty pickups were built at Oakville in April, followed by another 37 in May as Ford tested and prepared the assembly operation. According to Unifor, that ramp-up has been progressing smoothly, clearing the way for customer vehicle production to begin. Once fully operational, Ford expects Oakville to eventually have capacity to produce as many as 100,000 Super Duty trucks annually.
Initially, Oakville will produce Super Duty pickups with conventional gas and diesel powertrains. Looking further ahead, however, Ford has described the retooled facility as “fully flexible,” allowing it to support multiple types of powertrains when the next-generation Super Duty arrives later this decade. That flexibility could become increasingly important as Ford expands the range of electrified options available to truck customers.
The transformation represents a substantial commitment to Canadian automotive manufacturing. Ford now expects to invest approximately $5 billion CAD in the Oakville conversion, with the federal government providing $464.5 million in support. The resulting production capacity is intended to help Ford satisfy continued strong demand for Super Duty pickups in both Canada and the United States.
For Ford truck customers here in BC, there’s something particularly satisfying about seeing one of the company’s most capable pickups being built here in Canada. Super Duty is already a familiar sight on construction sites, farms, worksites, highways, and recreational trips across the province. Soon, some of those trucks will begin their journey at a Canadian Ford assembly plant, marking an exciting new chapter for both Super Duty and Ford manufacturing in Canada.
