2026 Ford Expedition Updates Include Steering Column and Tech Changes

The 2026 Ford Expedition is arriving with a handful of equipment updates that adjust how certain features are offered across the full-size SUV’s trim lineup. While some convenience features are being scaled back on lower trims, Ford is also introducing new options aimed at style and security.

According to sources familiar with the changes, the power-adjustable steering column with memory is no longer standard equipment on the Expedition XL and Active Select trims for 2026. These models now come equipped with a manual tilt and telescoping steering column, and the power-adjustable version cannot be added as an option on those trims.

Higher trims continue to include the feature. The Tremor, Platinum, and King Ranch models still offer the power-adjustable steering column as standard equipment. Buyers choosing the Active trim can also access it, but only by selecting the Active Touring Package (equipment group 202A), which bundles the feature with the Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 system.

The 2026 Expedition also drops wireless smartphone charging across the lineup. While devices can still be charged using wired USB connections throughout the cabin, the removal mirrors similar changes made to the 2025 Ford Mustang and 2025 Ford Bronco, which no longer offer wireless charging either.

On the positive side, the 2026 Expedition gains a new black-painted roof option, creating a bold two-tone appearance for buyers looking for a sportier look. Ford is also introducing a Security Package that works with the FordPass smartphone app, offering added vehicle protection features. It’s worth noting that these security services require a paid subscription, though Ford includes one year of complimentary service upon activation.

Overall, the 2026 Ford Expedition balances feature adjustments with new options, giving buyers more flexibility depending on which trim and packages best suit their needs.
