The Ford Bronco Sport just earned another win for the Blue Oval. In a new comparison test from Edmunds, the compact SUV outscored the all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox, securing an overall rating of 6.6 out of 10 compared to the Equinox’s 6.0.

The matchup was particularly interesting because both models are fresh for the 2025 model year. The Ford Bronco Sport received its first mid-cycle refresh, while the Chevy Equinox debuted an all-new design. Edmunds credited Ford for delivering an SUV with real personality and off-road credibility — traits that helped it pull ahead in the final results.

Edmunds appreciated the Equinox’s modern technology suite, including an 11-inch digital cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google integration. However, the reviewers found the Equinox’s 175-horsepower four-cylinder engine underwhelming, describing it as “sluggish” with a 0–96 km/h (0–60 mph) time of 8.7 seconds. They also noted that its suspension tuning felt inconsistent — “somehow too soft and too firm at the same time.”
In contrast, the Bronco Sport stood out for its off-road prowess and distinctive character. While Edmunds acknowledged that it offers less interior space and can get pricey with options, they praised its adventurous personality. “In a world where other SUVs have gone toward more road-oriented styling and features, the Bronco Sport stands apart — in a good way,” the editors wrote.

It’s not the first time a Ford has topped an Edmunds comparison in recent months. The publication also named the F-150 best in its class, and even ranked the F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid ahead of the all-electric Lightning.
For the Bronco Sport, this latest recognition reinforces what many drivers already know — that it’s not just another crossover. It’s a true SUV with personality, capability, and unmistakable Built Wild spirit.
