First Kindred Ford Bronco EV Delivered as Company Launches New Grayback EV Platform

The Ford Bronco’s legendary off-road heritage just got an electric upgrade. Kindred Motorworks has officially delivered the first Kindred Ford Bronco EV, bringing modern electric performance to one of the most iconic SUVs ever made. Alongside the delivery, the company also unveiled its new Grayback Electric Vehicle Platform (EVP) — the advanced system powering this electrified classic.

Named after the USS Grayback submarine built near Kindred’s headquarters, the Grayback EVP represents a complete EV foundation, integrating heating and cooling systems, power distribution, charging controls, and advanced battery management. The platform produces 600 horsepower and delivers an estimated 322 kilometers of driving range on a full charge. It also supports both at-home fast charging and CCS DC fast charging, making it as capable as it is nostalgic.

Built on an authentic first-generation Ford Bronco frame with the original VIN, the Kindred Bronco EV features a high-performance electric all-wheel-drive system that maintains the model’s rugged off-road DNA. The design stays true to the original, complete with its boxy proportions, removable doors, and three-spoke steering wheel — but underneath, it’s all modern electric power.

Inside, the cabin blends classic design cues with contemporary comfort. The Bronco EV includes heated seats, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tilt steering, and a backup camera. The instrument cluster has been reimagined as an LCD display inspired by the original Bronco’s layout.

Power output for the production version is rated at 402 horsepower and 492 pound-feet of torque, with regenerative braking helping extend driving range. Starting at $225,000 (USD), each model includes a limited one-year warranty, and buyers can also choose internal combustion options for a more traditional build.

By fusing first-generation style with zero-emission technology, the Kindred Bronco EV shows what’s possible when nostalgia meets innovation — and proves that even the most iconic classics can find new life in the electric age.
