Ford EV Division HQ Established At Michigan Central Station

Ford Motor Company has officially designated the newly revitalized Michigan Central Station as the headquarters for its Model e EV-focused division, marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to electrification and innovation. After investing six years and around $1 billion in the restoration project, Ford revealed the impressive transformation in June. The historic building, which had been abandoned for years, now houses a variety of tenants, with Ford’s EV division being the latest to move in this week.

The new headquarters for Model e will occupy the ninth and tenth floors of the building, while the eighth floor will serve as a meeting space. By the end of 2024, Ford expects around **1,000 workers** to be based at Michigan Central Station. These employees will primarily come from the Model e division and the Integrated Services software team. The rejuvenation of the space reflects Ford’s vision for creating a mission-driven work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration, especially as it pushes towards a more electrified future.

Model e CEO Marin Gjaja highlighted the symbolic importance of the move, noting that the revitalized station mirrors Ford’s efforts to rebuild Detroit and transform the company. The integration of cutting-edge workspaces within a historic landmark also helps Ford attract and retain top talent, which is essential for the ongoing growth of its EV initiatives.

Michigan Central Station isn’t just about Ford’s business ambitions. The site also includes spaces for community engagement, startups, and education programs like Google’s Code Next, which aims to help underrepresented students pursue careers in technology. Additionally, the surrounding area will host businesses like Yellow Light Coffee & Donuts, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, making it a hub for both innovation and community revitalization.
