2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible Debuts With 800 Horsepower

The Mustang Dark Horse family is getting a serious dose of open-air performance. Ford has officially revealed the 2027 Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible, combining the supercharged performance of the Dark Horse SC with a power-folding soft top and a whopping 800 horsepower.

According to Ford Authority’s report on the new Dark Horse SC Convertible, the new model uses Ford’s supercharged 5.2-litre V8, producing 800 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, giving the convertible the kind of performance credentials normally associated with far more exotic machinery.

Ford didn’t simply remove the roof from the coupe, either. The Dark Horse SC Convertible receives its own chassis tuning to account for the structural differences that come with an open-top design. It also features MagneRide adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential and an active exhaust system, creating a package designed to deliver serious performance while still allowing drivers to drop the roof and enjoy the soundtrack.

Visually, the Dark Horse SC Convertible is anything but subtle. Aggressive front-end aerodynamics, large air intakes, distinctive wheels and Dark Horse styling cues make its intentions clear. With the roof lowered, however, it offers an entirely different experience from the coupe. An 800-horsepower supercharged V8 is already exciting. Hearing it without a roof between you and the exhaust note takes things to another level.

It’s also an interesting expansion of the Mustang lineup. The current generation already stretches from the turbocharged EcoBoost through the Mustang GT and Dark Horse to increasingly specialized high-performance variants. Adding a Dark Horse SC Convertible gives enthusiasts another way to experience Mustang performance without forcing them to choose between serious horsepower and open-air motoring.

For Mustang fans in BC, this might be one of the most entertaining combinations Ford has created yet. Picture a summer drive along the Sea-to-Sky Highway with the roof down and a supercharged V8 up front. Eight hundred horsepower may be considerably more than you need for a scenic drive, but that’s hardly the point.
