Ford F-150 Ranks Among Top 10 Vehicles Owners Want To Keep Forever

Some vehicles come and go, while others become part of the family. The Ford F-150 clearly falls into the latter category for many owners. According to a recent report from Ford Authority (https://fordauthority.com/2026/07/ford-f-150-among-top-10-forever-vehicles/), the F-150 has earned a spot among the top 10 vehicles that owners say they would happily keep indefinitely.

The results come from an American Trucks survey of 1,005 vehicle owners, which asked respondents about their “forever vehicles.” These are vehicles their owners have no intention of willingly selling and instead plan to continue driving until doing so is no longer practical or safe. The Ford F-150 finished sixth overall, an impressive showing for a full-size pickup in a list dominated by cars and SUVs.

There are plenty of reasons a truck can earn that kind of loyalty. Survey respondents cited having a vehicle completely paid off, how well it fits their lifestyle, reliability, and sentimental attachment among their biggest reasons for holding onto a vehicle. Those factors make particularly good sense for an F-150. A truck that has spent years handling family trips, home renovations, camping adventures, towing duties, and daily commutes can become difficult to replace.

The F-150’s reputation for longevity helps its case as well. Ford Authority notes that Consumer Reports has previously identified the F-150 among vehicles likely to reach 200,000 miles or more. That’s approximately 322,000 kilometres, the kind of mileage that can represent many years of ownership for Canadian drivers.

Interestingly, the F-150 isn’t the only Ford that owners apparently have trouble saying goodbye to. The Ford Mustang and Ford Explorer also made the survey’s overall top 10, giving Ford three different vehicles on the list. The results suggest that long-term attachment isn’t limited to one type of Ford owner, whether their priority is truck capability, sports-car performance, or family-friendly SUV versatility.

Here in British Columbia, it’s easy to understand the appeal of keeping a capable truck for the long haul. From hauling supplies and towing recreational equipment to heading into the mountains for a weekend away, an F-150 can become useful in an enormous range of situations. And when you’ve found a truck that does everything you need it to do, sometimes the best replacement is no replacement at all.
