Ford F-150 Lightning Outsells Cybertruck, Silverado EV, and Sierra EV in Q2 2025

The Ford F-150 Lightning continues to prove itself as a leader in the electric truck market, even as overall segment sales soften. In Q2 2025, Lightning sales reached 5,842 units in the United States, securing the top spot among five competing electric pickups. Despite a 26 percent year-over-year decline, Ford’s EV truck outperformed high-profile rivals including the Tesla Cybertruck, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV.

The Cybertruck landed in second place with 4,306 sales – a steep 46 percent decline – while Chevrolet Silverado EV deliveries climbed 39 percent to 3,056 units. GMC’s Sierra EV rounded out the list with 1,524 sales, while Rivian’s R1T accounted for 1,752 deliveries. Combined, GM’s two electric trucks totaled 4,580 sales, still falling short of the F-150 Lightning’s 5,842 units. This means Ford outsold both of its crosstown rival’s EV pickups by more than 1,200 deliveries in the same quarter.

In terms of market share, the Lightning captured 35 percent of the electric truck segment, ahead of Tesla’s 26 percent and GM’s combined 28 percent. While the overall EV pickup market contracted nearly 19 percent compared to the previous year, Ford’s ability to maintain its lead demonstrates the continued strength of the F-150 brand and consumer trust in the Lightning’s capability.

Ford is also ensuring the Lightning stays competitive with new features for 2025. Updates include the Dark Elements appearance package, enhanced BlueCruise 1.4 hands-free driving, and improved DC fast charging capacity of up to 500 amps. Customers also benefit from integrated NACS fast-charging support, real-time charging info, and thoughtful trim updates like ActiveX seating on Flash models and expanded SiriusXM 360L. These refinements underscore Ford’s commitment to keeping the F-150 Lightning a front-runner in the electric truck segment.
