Ford continues to lead the way in smart vehicle technology by enhancing its FordPass and Lincoln Way mobile apps with a brand-new feature—software update scheduling. This convenient addition allows Ford and Lincoln owners to take control of when their vehicles receive over-the-air updates, ensuring a smoother and more personalized user experience.
Announced by Alex Purdy, Ford’s Global Head of Digital Product and Integrated Services, the update empowers customers to set or modify their software update schedule directly within the app. Much like how smartphones receive updates overnight, this feature allows Ford vehicles equipped with SYNC 4, SYNC 4A, or the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience to stay current with the latest software enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements—on your schedule.
The scheduling feature is available for select gasoline, hybrid, and electric Ford and Lincoln vehicles from eligible model years. Drivers can easily check their eligibility by navigating to the Settings > Software Updates menu in the app. If your vehicle qualifies, you’ll see the new scheduling option available. This is just the latest in a series of FordPass improvements, which also includes WearOS support, iOS widgets, Dark Mode compatibility, and easier shared vehicle access for family and friends.
These continual updates to the FordPass and Lincoln Way platforms underscore Ford’s commitment to a seamless, connected ownership experience. By allowing drivers to manage software updates on their own terms, Ford makes it even easier to enjoy the benefits of modern vehicle technology—whether you’re driving a gas-powered F-150 or an all-electric Mustang Mach-E.
