Vehicle theft has been steadily increasing across the United States, but not every model is equally at risk. According to the latest data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Ford Mustang Mach-E once again proves itself to be a smart and secure choice, ranking among the least stolen vehicles in America for 2025.
Covering model years 2022–2024, the Mach-E posted a relative claim frequency of just 8, compared to the industry average of 100. This is significantly lower than vehicles on the most-stolen list, such as the Chevy Camaro, which reported a claim frequency of 3,949. While muscle cars and pickup trucks dominate the list of highly targeted vehicles, the Mach-E shows that EVs are far less attractive to thieves.
Experts believe that plug-in vehicles are less frequently stolen due to how and where they are parked. Since EVs and PHEVs are often kept in garages or near buildings to allow for convenient charging, they present fewer opportunities for theft. According to IIHS, EVs and PHEVs have whole-theft claim frequencies that are over 85 percent lower than the national average—a major security advantage for owners.
While the Ford Mustang Mach-E wasn’t the single least stolen vehicle (that honor goes to the Tesla Model 3), it still placed highly, alongside models like the Tesla Model Y, Toyota RAV4 Prime, Volvo XC90, and Volvo XC40. For drivers seeking an electric vehicle that combines performance, technology, and peace of mind, the Mach-E continues to shine in both innovation and security.
