The Ford F-150 Lightning has quickly become a benchmark for electric pickups, but one thing has been missing from its lineup so far — a dedicated off-road trim. That may soon change, as spy photos suggest that Ford could be working on a Tremor version of the all-electric Lightning.

Recently, a camouflaged prototype was spotted in Arizona, showing subtle but noteworthy changes. While most of the truck resembled the current Lightning, a new blue accent line in the grille stood out as a fresh design element. Running boards resembling those found on the gas-powered F-150 Tremor were also visible, pointing toward enhanced off-road utility.

The prototype rode on 18-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires, a departure from the standard highway-rated rubber that typically comes with the Lightning. These details suggest Ford could be preparing a tougher, trail-ready version of its popular EV pickup. Still, it’s possible this model represents another variant, perhaps a rally-inspired edition similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally.

This sighting comes as Ford prepares its next-generation Lightning, scheduled to arrive in 2028 after multiple delays. Whether this prototype is an early Tremor package or another off-road-focused variant, it highlights Ford’s commitment to giving EV drivers the same adventurous options as traditional truck buyers.
