Despite a slight dip in sales, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning continues to hold strong in the competitive electric pickup segment. During Q1 2025, Ford delivered 7,187 F-150 Lightning trucks, outperforming the combined sales of both the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV, which totaled 3,632 units. While the Tesla Cybertruck led with an estimated 9,000 deliveries, the Lightning maintained a solid second-place finish, further proving its staying power in the EV truck market.
Although Ford experienced a 7% year-over-year decline in Lightning sales, it still secured a 34% market share in the electric pickup segment—more than double GM’s combined share. The Silverado EV and Sierra EV earned 11% and 6% respectively. Meanwhile, the Rivian R1T slipped to fourth with 1,600 deliveries and a 7% share. Overall, the EV truck segment grew 83% year-over-year, totaling 21,419 deliveries in the U.S., showing that demand continues to rise, even if competition is fierce.
Ford’s continued investment in the Lightning is clear. The 2025 F-150 Lightning adds a Dark Elements appearance package, updated BlueCruise 1.4 for improved hands-free driving, and better DC fast charging, with a boost from 450 to 500 amps. New features include improved real-time charging controls, SiriusXM 360L, and enhanced Apple CarPlay integration with access to North American Charging Standard (NACS) stations and optional Tesla adapters.
With updates across the lineup—including new paint colors, upgraded seating, and increased flexibility for trailering—the 2025 F-150 Lightning continues to evolve with customer needs. Even in a highly competitive and shifting EV landscape, Ford remains committed to innovation, utility, and leadership in the electric truck space.
