With auto insurance rates climbing across North America, many shoppers are taking a closer look at total ownership costs before choosing their next vehicle. Insurance premiums have risen due to higher repair costs, inflation, supply chain challenges, and increased claim volumes. That makes affordability beyond the sticker price more important than ever.

According to a recent analysis from Insurify, the Ford Escape ranks as one of the least expensive SUVs to insure right now. The compact crossover placed fifth overall, with an average full-coverage insurance cost of approximately $171 per month in United States dollars.
The Ford Escape finished behind the Honda CR-V at $160 per month, the Chevrolet Trailblazer at $164, and the Toyota 4Runner and Honda Pilot at $170 each. It also ranked ahead of several popular competitors, including the Chevrolet Suburban at $173, Toyota Highlander at $175, Ford Explorer at $180, Chevrolet Equinox at $180, and Mazda CX-5 at $181 per month.

Insurify notes that insurance providers consider several factors when setting premiums, including the availability of advanced safety features, historical accident and claim data, and average repair costs. Vehicles with strong safety records and widely available replacement parts often benefit from lower insurance rates, which can help keep long-term costs in check.
This is not the first time a Ford vehicle has appeared on an affordability-focused insurance list. In recent months, the Ford F-150 was named among the cheapest trucks and SUVs to insure, while the Ford F-150 Lightning was also recognized as one of the least expensive electric vehicles to insure, despite EVs generally costing more to cover than gas-powered vehicles.
For drivers shopping in the compact SUV segment, the Ford Escape continues to stand out not just for its versatility and efficiency, but also for helping keep ongoing ownership costs more manageable.
