BlueCruise 1.5 Debuts on 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E with Smarter Hands-Free Driving

Ford’s hands-free driving experience just got a serious upgrade. The latest version of BlueCruise—version 1.5—has officially launched and is available exclusively on the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E, for now. As Ford continues to lead the industry in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), this new update brings one of the most requested features to the table: Automatic Lane Change.

Developed by Ford’s ADAS engineering team, Automatic Lane Change allows the Mustang Mach-E to initiate lane changes on its own when encountering slower traffic—without requiring the driver to touch the wheel. The system avoids risky maneuvers like merging with fast-moving traffic or entering lanes with frequent exits, helping to maintain both safety and comfort during hands-free highway driving.

Ford’s in-house testing shows that BlueCruise 1.5 can automate up to 45 percent of lane changes under optimal conditions. When a lane change is triggered, the system alerts the driver with both visual and audio cues explaining the reason for the move—whether it’s passing a slower vehicle or vacating the passing lane once it’s clear.

This enhanced version of BlueCruise requires upgraded hardware, including more powerful processors and additional sensors, which is why it’s only debuting on the 2025 Mustang Mach-E. However, Ford has confirmed that these upgrades will soon roll out to more models across the Ford and Lincoln lineups, bringing intelligent, hands-free driving to more customers than ever before.
