2026 Ford Expedition Drops Wireless Charging Pad but Gains New Features

The Ford Expedition continues to evolve for the 2026 model year, bringing a mix of changes that refine its place as a family-friendly, full-size SUV. One notable update is the removal of the wireless smartphone charging pad, a feature that was previously included on most trims of the 2025 Expedition. This follows a trend across the Blue Oval lineup, with both the 2025 Mustang and Bronco also dropping wireless charging capabilities.

While the wireless pad is gone, the 2026 Expedition still offers plenty of charging flexibility. Every model is equipped with USB smart charging multimedia ports, ensuring passengers can keep their devices powered up through a reliable wired connection. For many drivers, this may offer more consistent performance compared to wireless pads, which can sometimes be finicky.

Beyond the charging update, the 2026 Expedition introduces several exciting changes. The Platinum and King Ranch trims now feature an optional black painted roof for a sleek, modern look, while the new Marsh Gray paint option replaces the outgoing Wild Green. The Power Panoramic Vista Roof becomes optional on Active Touring trims, and third-row 60/40 PowerFold seats are now standard on Active Touring models. The Expedition also adds the Ford Security Package with a complimentary one-year trial, plus Ford Co-Pilot Active 2.0 on Active Touring trims, which works with BlueCruise for advanced driver-assist capabilities.

For off-road enthusiasts, the Tremor trim continues to stand out with standard rugged upgrades, while the Off-Road Underbody Shield becomes available as an accessory across other trims. Pricing details for the 2026 Expedition haven’t yet been released, though the 2025 model started at $62,630 USD. With its combination of fresh styling options, advanced tech, and new convenience features, the 2026 Expedition strengthens its position as a versatile SUV built for families and adventurers alike.
