The 48th annual New Westminster Hyack Ambassador Awards Gala Weekend will return to the Royal City this month with two nights of festivities scheduled for Friday, April 12, 2019, and Saturday, April 13, 2019. Both events are sponsored by Cartwright Jewelers and presented by the Hyack Festival Association.

“First Night” showcases six outstanding Hyack Ambassador Leadership Candidates as they deliver their Thornebridge Gardens “Senior Mentor” speeches, followed by personal presentations about an interest or area they are passionate about, such as music, the arts, athletics, academics and more.
The top three talents will be announced and invited to re-perform the following evening at the “Evening of Stars” Awards Gala at Douglas College.

“Evening of Stars”

During the “Evening of Stars” gala, all six outstanding Candidates will be installed with their titles and tiaras as the 2019 Hyack Ambassador Leadership Team. The title scholarships of Miss New Westminster 2019 and Hyack Princess 2019 will also be announced.
Together, the young women will spend the next year travelling with the Hyack Festival Association float around the Pacific Northwest to bring greetings from the Royal City at various local events. The 2019 team will continue to promote the mandate of “Serving Our Community - Representing Our City”.
In memory of Eva Markvoort, Miss New Westminster 2002, there will be “65 Red Roses” available for purchase for your favourite Ambassador – past, present or future – with all proceeds being donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. There will also be exciting door prizes, raffles and 50/50 winnings to enjoy, plus attendees can vote for their favourite Candidate during the People’s Choice Award.
