FordPass iOS Update Introduces Long-Promised Features

The latest FordPass iOS update has arrived, bringing a host of new features for iPhone users designed to make managing Ford vehicles more convenient. The FordPass version 5.8.0 update allows users to add lock and unlock controls directly to the iPhone Control Center, providing easy access without opening the app. This update also introduces home screen widgets, enabling owners to view essential vehicle information—such as battery level or location—at a glance. Additionally, the trailer light check feature has returned, and hybrid and electric vehicle owners can now set preferred charging times right from the app’s energy tab.

Ford CEO Jim Farley’s announcement that these enhancements would be available by fall, and it delivers on that promise. FordPass updates aim to streamline the user experience by offering quicker access to the most frequently used features, saving time and adding functionality for Ford’s hybrid and electric vehicles.

With iOS 18’s new features, FordPass has also improved its vehicle health interface. This screen now consolidates essential information—such as tire pressure, oil life, active alerts, and odometer readings—under the Service tab, making vehicle maintenance checks easier to perform. This update complements iOS 18’s customization features, which let users arrange and style app icons and widgets to best fit their preferences, even placing them above the dock.

The iOS 18 update to FordPass demonstrates Ford’s commitment to enhancing digital functionality, particularly for those with electrified models. By refining accessibility and customizing vehicle management tools, Ford is taking steps to keep up with the latest Apple tech, making the FordPass app more intuitive and useful than ever.
