Despite scaling back its electric vehicle ambitions in response to global challenges, Ford has earned the title of the top EV automaker for 2024 in a recent PC Mag poll. The accolade highlights the satisfaction of Ford EV owners, reaffirming the automaker’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle space, even with a limited lineup in the U.S.
PC Mag’s poll, conducted with 1,126 readers, asked participants to name their favorite EV and hybrid manufacturers and preferred charging networks. Ford emerged as the top choice for EV makers, even though its U.S. lineup includes just two all-electric consumer models—the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Mustang Mach-E. PC Mag noted that these vehicles receive high marks for ease of use, service and repair quality, driving assistance features, and customer recommendations. Ford outranked competitors like Hyundai, Chevy, Tesla, Nissan, and Kia, while placing fourth in overall satisfaction among hybrid and EV owners, behind BMW, Lexus, and Toyota.
This recognition underscores Ford’s ability to deliver quality and innovation, even amid recent challenges in the EV market. While Ford has scaled back some plans—such as postponing the next-generation F-150 EV to 2027 and reducing production of upcoming models like the Explorer and Capri EV in Europe—its current offerings have resonated strongly with consumers. The combination of the Mustang Mach-E’s sporty appeal and the F-150 Lightning’s utility has solidified Ford’s standing as a trusted name in electric mobility.
For Ford, this accolade represents a bright spot in its evolving EV strategy. It highlights the satisfaction and loyalty of its customers, affirming that quality and thoughtful design can make a significant impact—even with a smaller lineup. As the company refines its approach, this customer approval positions Ford to remain a competitive force in the growing EV market.
