The Ford Mustang GTD has made history by becoming the first American-made vehicle to complete a lap at the legendary Nurburgring circuit in under seven minutes. Driven by Multimatic Motorsports' Dirk Müller, the Mustang GTD achieved a stunning lap time of 6:57:685. This remarkable performance not only fulfilled Blue Oval CEO Jim Farley’s promise but also placed the Mustang GTD among the fastest stock production sports cars at the track. It now holds the fifth-fastest time recorded at the Nurburgring and is one of only six vehicles to break the seven-minute barrier.

Notable vehicles beaten by the Ford include the Lamborghini Aventador SV (6:59.73), Porsche 991.2 911 GT3 (7:12.7), and Ferrari 296 GTB (6:58.70). This achievement places the Mustang GTD in some rarefied company, proving that Ford's flagship muscle car can compete with the world’s most iconic sports cars. CEO Jim Farley has long championed the idea that the Mustang can go toe-to-toe with the world’s best sports cars, including the Porsche 911.
