Ford EV Sales Grow 16% in Q4 2024, Driving Growth in Key Electric Models

Ford continues to see impressive growth in its electric vehicle (EV) sales, with a 16% increase in Q4 2024, reaching 30,176 units sold in the United States. This boost is driven by strong performances from the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Ford E-Transit, which collectively make up Ford's growing EV portfolio. Notably, the Mustang Mach-E saw the highest growth, with sales up 36% year-over-year, accounting for 53% of Ford’s total EV sales for the quarter.

The F-150 Lightning, while still a popular choice, experienced a slight decline of 10% in sales compared to Q4 2023, totaling 10,703 units. Meanwhile, the E-Transit electric van posted a remarkable 57% increase, with 3,354 units sold, marking its continued success in the commercial sector. These sales figures show the diverse appeal of Ford’s EV lineup, catering to both personal and commercial vehicle owners with varying needs.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E’s strong performance has been particularly noteworthy, surpassing sales of the gasoline-powered Mustang, with 16,119 units sold in Q4 2024. This shift underscores growing consumer confidence in electric vehicles, even as some studies suggest a decrease in overall EV interest. The E-Transit also continues to make waves, solidifying its position as one of the top choices in the fleet EV market, while the F-150 Lightning’s slight dip in sales suggests that some challenges remain in the transition to electric trucks.

Ford leadership remains optimistic about the future of EVs, with plans to continue expanding the lineup and improving customer experience. As the EV market evolves, Ford's ongoing innovation in electric vehicles, from improved range to more accessible features, ensures the company’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve and meeting consumer demands in a rapidly changing automotive landscape. With a strong foundation in 2024, Ford is poised for continued growth in the EV sector.
