2025 Ford Ranger PHEV Debuts With 275 HP And A 45km EV Range

Ford unveiled the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its Ranger midsize truck at the 2024 IAA Transportation in Hannover, marking a year since it announced plans for the electrified model. The Ranger PHEV retains the capabilities of its non-electrified versions, including towing, payload, and off-road performance, while adding a zero-emission driving mode. The truck also comes with a new PHEV-exclusive Stormtrak trim that offers enhanced styling and equipment.

The Ranger PHEV is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine paired with a 101 hp electric motor, producing a combined output of 275 hp and 690 Nm of torque, outperforming the gasoline and diesel versions. Its 11.8 kWh battery provides an estimated electric-only range of 45 km (28 miles), with full charging possible in under four hours. The vehicle includes regenerative braking and an upgraded Pro Power Onboard system that can power tools or camping equipment with either 2.3 kW or 6.9 kW of supply. The PHEV maintains a 1-ton payload and can tow up to 3,500 kg, with a refined suspension system to accommodate its electrified components.

Visually, the Ranger PHEV resembles the standard Ranger, with the addition of a charging port. The exclusive Stormtrak edition boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, a redesigned grille, special decals, and unique side gills. Inside, it features premium materials, a 10-speaker B&O sound system, and a 360-degree camera. Production will take place at Ford’s Silverton plant in South Africa, with deliveries expected in spring 2025 to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. As of now, there is no confirmation of when or if the Ranger PHEV will be available in North America. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
