2025 Ford Explorer Reintroduces Factory SecuriCode Keypad Option

2025 Ford Explorer Reintroduces Factory SecuriCode Keypad Option

Ford enthusiasts who value the convenience of a factory-installed SecuriCode keyless entry keypad can rejoice as the 2025 Ford Explorer regains this popular feature. The update comes as part of the Job 2 production cycle, applying to all models built on or after November 25, 2025. While many Ford models had moved this keypad to a dealer-installed option in recent years, the redesigned Explorer now joins the 2025 Expedition in bucking this trend.

The SecuriCode keyless entry keypad is available as a factory-installed option on all 2025 Ford Explorer trim levels for an additional $455 USD. However, buyers of the base Active trim must also purchase the Active Comfort Package, which costs an extra $3,360 USD. This package adds features like a heated steering wheel, LED signature lighting and fog lamps, remote start, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, universal garage door opener, and ActiveX seating material, further enhancing the Explorer’s comfort and convenience.

This reintroduction marks a departure from Ford’s recent shift toward dealer-installed alternatives for the keypad. Models such as the 2025 Ford F-150, 2025 Ford Super Duty, 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, 2024 Ford Escape, and 2025 Ford Ranger have all transitioned to dealer-installed options, making the Explorer’s inclusion of the factory-installed keypad a notable decision. The move reflects Ford’s responsiveness to customer feedback and a recognition of the feature’s enduring popularity.

Previously, the 2025 Explorer had been equipped with a dealer-installed Illuminated Door Entry Keypad for $350 USD. While this option integrated well with the vehicle's wiring and offered similar functionality, the return of the factory-installed version provides a more seamless solution for buyers who appreciate the convenience of keyless entry without relying on keys or smartphones. This change underscores Ford’s commitment to enhancing user experience while maintaining its legacy of practical innovation.
