2025 Ford E-Transit Ditches Standard Range Battery
Posted on December 19, 2024
The 2025 Ford E-Transit debuted this year, introducing an array of updates that continue Ford's commitment to advancing its electric van lineup. Originally launched in 2022, the E-Transit has already received several enhancements, including substantial upgrades as part of the 2024 model year. However, a significant change for 2025 is the removal of the standard-range 68 kWh battery pack, previously available for fleet customers, leaving only the extended-range 89 kWh battery option for all configurations.
This shift to the extended-range battery in all 2025 E-Transits enhances the vehicle’s range, offering up to 159 miles, a marked improvement from the prior 126 miles on the smaller battery. This represents a 26% boost for low-roof models and a 32% increase for high-roof models. The van maintains the same power output, generating 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, but charging is now faster than ever thanks to dual onboard chargers with peak speeds of up to 176 kW. This upgrade enables the E-Transit to gain up to 67 miles of range in just 15 minutes—about 49% faster than the previous model.
Having started shipping last month, the 2024 E-Transit will soon be succeeded by the 2025 model, which brings even more options to meet the demands of various industries. New packages and upfitter kits from Ranger Design are now available, catering to specific professional needs, making it easier for businesses to configure the E-Transit for specialized tasks.
With these enhancements, the 2025 Ford E-Transit is positioned as a highly practical, efficient solution for commercial customers in search of reliable electric transport. Its expanded range, quicker charging, and industry-specific customizations make it an ideal choice for businesses looking to go electric without compromising on functionality or uptime.
