The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E continues to set the standard for safety, earning the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ Award, the organization’s highest honor. This recognition builds on the Mach-E’s consistent strong performance in IIHS safety tests, including previous achievements like “good” ratings in updated side crash and moderate front overlap crash tests. The Mach-E stands out among an elite group of only ten models to earn the Top Safety Pick+ Award this year.
The Mustang Mach-E joins a distinguished list of award-winning vehicles, including the Infiniti QX60, Mazda CX-70 PHEV, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Subaru Forester, and Rivian R1S. It also complements Ford’s strong safety reputation, with the F-150 SuperCrew and SuperCab models earning Top Safety Pick awards. Additionally, other Ford vehicles like the Lincoln Nautilus and Explorer have also secured the Top Safety Pick+ designation, underscoring the automaker’s commitment to safety.
To achieve this accolade, the Mach-E earned “good” ratings in key safety categories, including small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, headlights, and front crash protection for pedestrians. It also received an “acceptable” rating for latch ease of use, demonstrating well-rounded excellence in both crashworthiness and crash-avoidance features. These evaluations reflect the IIHS’s rigorous standards, which require vehicles to excel across various safety metrics to qualify for the Top Safety Pick+ distinction.
Ford’s dedication to safety innovation is evident in its consistent performance in crash testing and its focus on creating secure driving experiences for all road users. “Our rigorous internal safety evaluations ensure Ford and Lincoln products meet the highest standards,” said Bob Holycross, Ford’s chief sustainability, environment, and safety officer. With these accolades, the 2024 Mustang Mach-E solidifies its position not only as an electric pioneer but also as a leader in automotive safety.
