Picking the right preowned commercial vehicle for your small business can be harder than you think. Although there aren't many makes and models flooding the market, they do appear similar on paper, especially when you sit down to compare specs.
Fortunately, our dealership sells many used cargo vans in a range of brands (and not just Ford). To help you select the right one for your business, we’ve compiled a list of the best-selling models:
The Transit is a full-size cargo van that replaces Ford's E-Series. It comes available as two versions: a regular wheelbase and a long wheelbase, with long wheelbase models offering standard or extended length options. B.C. drivers like the Transit because of its high-roof form, which delivers an impressive 81.5” of interior cargo height. Depending on the model year you choose, the Transit is available in a range of engines, like the popular 3.7L V6, a turbocharged EcoBoost V6 and a 3.2L turbodiesel 5-cylinder.
Ford Transit Connect
The Ford Transit Connect is a compact van designed for inner-city businesses in need of good fuel economy and nimbleness, rather than straight-up cargo room. And its small size is certainly its strong point! In fact, the Transit Connect is no longer than a Ford Fusion sedan, even in its long wheelbase form. Getting in and out of tight alleyways and garages is no trouble for this vehicle.
The Sprinter has been the king of full-size cargo vans, known for its huge capacity. It comes available in two body styles (144” wheelbase or 170” wheelbase) and two roof sizes (standard or tall). This is a great option for business owners who don’t want to be constrained by space and where price isn’t an issue.
The Nissan NV is a full-size, rear-wheel-drive cargo van based off the Titan. Due to its pickup truck chassis, the top-level NV3500 van boasts an impressive payload capacity of nearly 4,000 lbs with a 9,500 lbs towing capacity to boot (when paired with the popular 5.6L V8 engine). It’s tall too, offering 76.9” of cargo height, which is like the Sprinter, but at a more affordable price.
The NV200 is the smaller sibling of the Nissan NV and features compact, front-wheel-drive architecture. Depending on the make and model you choose, you can expect fantastic fuel economy – like 24 mpg city/25 mpg hwy when you select a model with a 131-horsepower 4-cylinder engine mated to a fuel-saving CVT automatic. Similar to the Transit Connect, this van is ideal for city dwellers who need smaller size over strength.
The RAM ProMaster is available in three trims: 1500, 2500 and 3500 – as the number increases, so does its capability. Business owners like this van because it comes available in gas and EcoDiesel options, and offers an available standing interior height of 76” and up to 4,417 lbs of payload capacity, depending on the make and model.
