1.Ask questions: Find out how long the vehicle has been owned by the seller, if there are maintenance records and the reason for selling.
2.Request ID: Make sure that the seller’s information matches the vehicle’s ownership records.
3.Go for a test drive: One of the best ways to know if a used vehicle is in good operating condition is by going on an extensive test drive – on side streets, highways and even some bumpy terrain.
4.Do your research: Purchase a vehicle history report, such as a CarProof report, and review the information to ensure that there are no liens or issues with the vehicle.
5.Get it inspected: Before you buy any used vehicle from a private seller, have it inspected by a trusted mechanic to ensure that all safety systems are in good working order.
6.Ask for a receipt: Be sure it includes the seller’s information and the actual selling price, and be leery of anyone requesting cash.
