With the first sunny weekend event of the summer the Key West Ford Show & Shine was a huge success all day Sunday in New Westminster, British Columbia.
The event spanned the heart of downtown New Westminster from 9th Street all the way up past 3rd Street and it was crammed with custom and vintage vehicles of all shapes and sizes.
Key West Ford dominated the show with their block party style event ‘within an event’. As people entered the area they were greeted with a huge 10’ X 20’ screen displaying the latest Key West video and other cool media along with music that got everyone into the mood.
Inside the Key West block party there was lots going on. Water was a big hit as the day was a scorcher with what seemed like all of Vancouver there to enjoy the sights, see the cars, taste some of the great food from one of the local restaurants or mobile vendors or listen to the tunes of one of the live bands that seemed to be on every street corner.
Around the rest of the event there was lots of eye candy. People from all walks of live were there with their families or significant others. There were motor cycles on display with amazing art and craftsman ship. There were areas with wireless model cars with operators that could make these tiny vehicles jump so high the crowds were gathered 4 deep and cheering a rock star ovation.
As we wondered around the show we couldn’t stop thinking about the heat and the crowds. All of a sudden Vancouver has joined the rest of North America with its summer type weather. We’ve been complaining for months about our cold and rainy weather – not this weekend. The crowds were huge, the sun was bright and the show was spectacular.
